CASE No 26: October 06th 2003

Woman aged 33. Tumor of the left ovary at U/S.

Gross Findings

Cystic tumor 12cm in greatest diameter, filled with sebaceous material and hair. A polypoid nodule of 3 cm was found protruding in the inner surface of the cyst. It was composed of soft yellowish tissue.

Diagnosis: Mature cystic teratoma of the ovary (with presence of neuroectodermal tissue as choriod plexus and endodermal derivatives as thyroid tissue).
